Some people have really good confidence in their self and their body. Others might be partially dissatisfied with some of their body features, resulting in lower self-worth. No doubt the plastic surgery industry has benefited from this fact, when people come in to make changes to their bodies. Historically, this has been a female trend, but now men are following their lead and having surgery done to “upgrade” their faces, tummies and buttocks.
For the last 10 years, cosmetic surgery for men has gained popularity in the United States. Even though women still outnumber men by far, the gap isn’t what it used to be. Men are undergoing procedures like nose reshaping surgery, liposuction, and breast reduction, which are all cosmetic surgery procedures. This means that they are classified as procedures that require resting and healing time post-op.
There are also the minimally invasive procedures that are highly popular amongst men, like Botox, laser hair removal and microdermabrasion. These are all procedures that can be had on the same day you leave the hospital or clinic, and need none or little resting and healing time afterwards. There is also the endoscopic brow lift that is a better way to remove sagging and wrinkles in eyebrows than the older facelift version.
As the world seems to place more and more value in a person’s looks, no wonder people are flooding the gates of the cosmetic surgery clinics and hospitals. But you have to wonder if these changes that are made really make an impact to the person’s self-esteem. As they say, beauty comes from the inside, and even though that is usually meant as fluff, there is a lot of truth to it.
